About the word “Merak”

The word “merak” is inevitable when it comes to everyday conversation in Sarajevo. A word of Turkish origin, it means: craving, desire, enjoying, pleasant mood, and sometimes melancholy, sadness, depression. As you can see, this word marks various opposites. It is impossible to translate it into English (similar to the Hawaiian word “aloha”). It’s not an object or term. It’s purely a feeling, idea, thought. Merak is sitting with friends, drinking coffee with a “rahat lokum” and talking about life: about happiness, sadness, family, past times and those that are yet to come. It is a word that you will not be able to translate into your language, but you will surely feel it during your stay in Sarajevo.

About Apartment Merak

Apartment Merak consists of a bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.

The bedroom is equipped with a double bed with aloe vera mattress, a large wardrobe and a plasma TV. Leather furniture, and various details such as wall paintings and ethno-Bosnian style carpets, as well as an additional plasma TV give the living room a pleasant atmosphere. The dining area and kitchen contain all the necessities, from home appliances to dishes. The bathroom is equipped with a shower cabin and hygiene products such as shower gel, towels, hair dryer, soap etc. Apartment Merak has air conditioning and a free Wi-Fi connection. For your safety, the entire facility is under constant video surveillance.

All guests also can use our fully new equipped gym, as well as our beautiful garden. For guests traveling by car, we also provide a free parking place in a private garage.
